Apple iPhone 8 shows up in live video
While the official launch date of Apple's new iPhone -- tipped to be called iPhone 8 -- hasn't been confirmed, there has been no shortage of leaks and rumours around it. While we have seen the 'iPhone 8' in several renders, one user has posted a live video on YouTube showing the alleged smartphone.
The short YouTube video shows the smartphone's front and back panels. The design of the device is the same as what we have seen in render and leaked images. The device is seen in Jet Black colour along with a vertical dual rear camera setup at the back. The smartphone's screen is off in the video so nothing much can be said about how the handset will work or how the UI will be revamped based on the extended display. The right side is seen with volume and power buttons while the left side is seen with an alert slider.
What's worth mentioning is that there is no visible fingerprint scanner on the smartphone. This in a way confirms rumours that Apple could be heavily banking on the face scanner or the eye scanner feature. However, we'll get to know what exactly Apple has up its sleeve when the new iPhone sees the light of the day.
Apple's upcoming iPhone will indeed be arriving on time in September, says a prolific Apple tipster and KGi Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. in his latest research note obtained by Apple Insider website, has also said that the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus will arrive in Black, Silver and Gold colour variants.
The new iPhone handsets will be launched simultaneously in September. The lineup will probably include the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus. But it has been mentioned that the 'iPhone 8' will be available in limited quantities as the supply chain will produce 2 million and 4 million units only in this quarter. The production will however, be ramped up to 45 million and 50 million units within this year.
As for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s, Apple will produce 35 million to 38 million units, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus will see 18 million to 20 million units.
