You asked for it, now you have it. Nokia is set to re-launch its iconic Nokia 3310 (aka the unbreakable phone) at the 2017 Mobile World Congress  (MWC 2017) in Barcelona later this month.

The beginning of the twenty-first century witnessed the world making a gradual shift in terms of mobile communication. People increasingly started ditching their landlines to talk to their family and friends using mobile phones. One name that in many ways pioneered this trend was Nokia. The company with its robust range of smartphones gained immense popularity and quickly became a household name across the globe.

However, as the world progressed towards the Internet era, Nokia failed to match pace with the changing trends and ended up being acquired by Microsoft. And now, Nokia is all set to re-invent itself by re-launching its iconic mobile phone 3310.

According to a tweet by the serial leaker Evan Blass, Nokia is all set to reintroduce 3310 along with introducing its Android-based smartphones– Nokia 3, Nokia 6 and its watered down version Nokia 5 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017) that is scheduled to take place in Barcelona later this month.

Primarily known for this all-powerful battery life and its indestructible built, Nokia 3310 was launched in the year 2000. According to Blass, HMD Global Oy, the Finnish manufacturer that has the exclusive rights to market phones under the Nokia brand, will market the phone based on its reliability.

The unbreakable build quality of the Nokia 3310 helped the best-selling mobile to achieve stardom as an online meme. The original version was retired in 2005, at which point, according to Nokia, it had sold 126m units, making it the world’s best-selling phone

Although it is still possible to buy an original Nokia 3310 on Amazon, the handset is not being sold on the marketplace by the company itself.

The features of the Nokia 3310 include a clock, calculator, the ability to store 10 reminders, and four preinstalled games. Preinstalled on the Nokia 3310 were Snake II, Pairs II, Space Impact and Bantumi.

It uncertain though whether the revamped mobile phone will include any new smart features – or whether it will include the same low-res software that powered the original.

Apart from 3310, Nokia would also be launching Nokia 6 and its smaller sibling Nokia 5 at the MWC 2017.  HMD Global had introduced Nokia 6 in China last and month and earlier reports suggested that the company had no plans of bringing out the smartphone elsewhere in the world. However, the latest reports suggest that MWC 2017 could witness the company making some important announcements. Nokia 6 is said to be powered by Android Nougat and Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor.
